THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN WEST OAHU
Late in 2013, The Rt. Rev. Robert Fitzpatrick, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i, invited the Episcopal Churches in West Oahu: St. Nicholas, Kapolei, St. Philip's, Waianae Coast (now known as St. John the Baptist), St. Stephen’s Wahiawa, and St. Timothy's Aiea, to consider new models of ministry.
As the ECWO continues to develop, things will continue to change. While, each church continues to offer worship just as they have before; we believe that Christ’s call to love one another and to preach the Gospel message to the communities will continue to create new opportunities for ministry beyond the one church, one community model. We believe that these partnerships will allow us to collaborate, learn from one another, and in some areas create some efficiency. One such area is outreach. Among the ECWO, there are opportunities for outreach in every age group, economic or cultural group. There is also a greater diversity in time and days to participate in outreach.
As a regional ministry, we gain from the larger body of Christ as we share in one another's expertise and allow each to serve from their own gifts.
