Living on the EDGE
Like the old school, classic Aerosmith songs says, “We’re seeing things in a different way”. St. Nick’s youth group, made up of youth from grades 6-12, are doing just that. Through opportunities to gather, discuss, and relate our faith and beliefs to our everyday, “outside-of-church-walls” life, we are developing friendships, developing faith, and developing lives. We meet weekly at the beginning of the 10am service, and meet on Sunday evenings for worship, events, food, and fun. All youth grades 6-12 are invited and encouraged to be involved.
Bring a friend! Seriously.
Friends are always welcome at any youth event! Invite friends to join, and just let us know if it is an event that requires transportation so we can plan accordingly. The more youth we have, the more fun we have, right?
Don’t forget about Sunday mornings!
Sunday mornings we will meet inside the entryway of the school for our Sunday School. This will be a time of church discussion, devotions, and more topics related to church and faith. Important formation time, but not too serious all the time....and we usually have junk food. It is about 20 minutes of time together to check in on life, discuss faith, and bring us closer together as a spiritual community. We then join the worship service for the sermon and the remainder of the service.
Parents. You too can be a part of EDGE.
Parents are always welcome to attend or participate in EDGE…especially if they bring cookies. Come hang out with your teen in a place where they won’t roll their eyes at you, make fun of your “mom jeans”, or sigh at everything you say. We will always have opportunities to help out with calling youth, transportation to events, cooking, taking pictures, etc. Oh....and did I mention cookies?
An Invitation to Worship
It is often said that youth are the future of the church. Wrong. Youth are not just the future. They are also the present. Youth are the ones who will help change the face of the church, develop new ways to express faith, and spend more time volunteering than many adults. Youth often bring an energy and power to different styles of prayer and worship that many adults seem to lose. Someday it will be you running the church committees, teaching Sunday School and leading programs, so help make it what you want it to be. Get involved now. Please let us know if you are interested in being a part of the service at St. Nicks. There are tons of ways to be involved ranging from set-up crew to reading scripture to greeting newcomers. We want St. Nicks to fit your needs for spiritual growth and powerful faith.
